Opening Day is finally upon us, as the 2011 KSSL season kicks off this Sunday May 29th at a little ole place called Huck Field, stuck right dab in the middle of everybody's favorite community, Kilbride! This year brings us the 9th season in the KSSL's, already legendary status around the city, history. This season, per usual, seems to be as wide open as any, as Ched Whelan attempts to lead his defending champion Ron's Roofing to back-to-back title's, but not before Jonny Murphy, Billy Gorman, or last season's runner up, Moe Smith can say anything about it.

Make sure you all get a good nights sleep, avoid getting too fucked up, because champions can be made on opening day. I know Jimmy Rodden will be ready, will you? The schedule begins with a 4:00 pm start between Pike's Store and Stanley's Irving, before we cap the day off with Lester's Farm vs Ron's Roofing. There's already swirling rumors on some potential guest celebrity's showing up for the opening day festivities. Who will throw out the first pitch? Who's singing O Canada? Rumor has it, everybody's favorite beer bottle thief, Japper will be out of town this weekend, collecting bottles at some big function somewhere out west, so we may be without his angelic voice and laugh for the first time in memory. What will we do? Maybe Jeff Murphy can entertain us with a spoken word rendition, sprinkling in a little air xylophone and keys, with drum and bass beats being provided from the music of Jamiroquai, and background howling from Warren Zevon's 'Werewolves of London'. Who knows what will happen but it should be good times for all. See ya up at the Huck! Finally, let me leave with you someone who at one time made us all laugh, cry or even wanna elbow someone in the face...
